Law Enforcement Officers Run for Special Olympics, Paperwork for Property Tax Exemptions Due Today

1.) Today is the Deadline to File for Property Tax Exemptions in Peekskill, Cortlandt

2.) The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympic is Scheduled Today

Law Enforcement officials are expected to begin this year’s Special Olympics Torch Run in Yonkers today and make their way up to Route 9 in Briarcliff at about 1 p.m. The run is expected to end in Peekskill.
3.)Â Peekskill PD to Kick Off Safe Streets Fundraiser Today at the Firehouse Grille
The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Firehouse Grille, located 63 Welcher Ave. in Peekskill. Proceeds will be used to fund a gun buyback program in the city and the reward money police use to get information on serious crimes. Officials are asking resident to make  tax-deductible contributions of $25, $50 or $100. Police Chief Eric Johansen, Mayor Mary Foster, Deputy Mayor Drew Claxton, Councilmembers Don Bennett, Andy Torres, Mary Beth McGowan, Kathie Talbot and Darren Rigger, along with County Legislators John Testa and Catherine Borgia, are expected to be in attendance.
4.)Â Cancer Survivors Invited to Private Dinner Saturday
Cancer survivors are invited to attend a private dinner reception that is being held Saturday during the Hen Hud Leo’s Stay Awake-A-Thon. The dinner, which is being catered by Coles Market, begins 5:30 p.m. at the Hendrick Hudson High School, located at 2166 Albany Post Rd. in Montrose. The Peekskill school board announced that it is restoring the elementary school librarian and four Spanish teaching positions into their $78.4 million budget proposal for next year. The board announced that it was cutting the positions earlier this month. Read more about it here
