Letter to the Editor: 'I Support Galef, Not Robocalls'

To the Editor:

My home is being invaded by unwanted political robocalls.  If I answer the phone I am assaulted by a loud voice extolling the virtues of a candidate who could be from either party calling from anywhere in the country.   Even worse, I can’t stop the voice. When I put the receiver back on the hook, I can hear the shouting continue until therobocall ends, many minutes later.  And it happens with really annoying frequency.

This is why I appreciate Assemblywoman Sandy Galef who is running for State Assembly.  Not only has she proposed legislation curtailing the robocalling practice, but she ‘practices what she preaches’.  She does not allow political robocalls on her behalf this election season. 

Robocalls are inexpensive advertising, which is why most political campaigns use them.   Assemblywoman Galef is that rare elected official and candidate who has chosen principle over political expediency.  Ms. Galef has my vote for New York State Assembly.  Hopefully, more candidates will follow her example so we can answer our phones once again with the expectation that it will be from someone with whom we can have a real conversation.
