Long-Time Peekskill Resident Named City Clerk

PEEKSKILL, NY — A long-time Peekskill resident was appointed to be the next city clerk.

Cassandra Redd, who previously served as the city manager’s confidential secretary, was chosen to be city clerk by the Peekskill Common Council, at its March 13 meeting.

Her appointment was passed unanimously, with her start date effective immediately, according to a news release.

Peekskill Mayor Vivian McKenzie said she was thrilled to appoint Redd as city clerk.

“Cassandra’s dedication to serving the city and our residents makes her the perfect fit to be our next city clerk,” she said. “The Council and I wish her continued success and look forward to working with her as we move our city forward.”

Redd, who served as the city manager’s confidential secretary since August 2020, has been responsible for managing the calendars and scheduling the meeting for the city manager, mayor and Common Council, assisting residents with finding answers to their questions, coordinating council agendas and handling special projects.

Prior to her employment at City Hall, she was a student service support center counselor at Mercy College.

Red received a bachelor of science degree in social work and a master’s degree in public administration in health services management from Mercy College.
