Man Crashes Stolen Car, Suffers Serious Injuries; Woman Threatens Neighbor with Bat; Drunk Drivers

Tarrytown Man Suffers Serious Injuries After Crashing Stolen Car in Peekskill

 Peekskill police arrested Tarrytown resident Dajuan Shealy, 27, on March 17 at 5:25 p.m. on Crompond Road on felony grand larceny charges.

Police report that Shealy lost control of a stolen vehicle, which caused him to crash into a telephone pole. The Peekskill Fire Department extricated Shealy from the vehicle and Peekskill EMS transported him to Westchester Medical Center. He suffered serious injuries.

Police investigating the accident determined the vehicle had been stolen several minutes prior to the accident after it had been left unattended and running outside of the P on Park St. Excessive speed was determined to be the cause of the accident. Shealy is being held without bail in the jail ward at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

Drunk Driver Flees on Foot After Accident

Officers investigating a report of an accident on East Boulevard arrived to find a vehicle that struck a parked car on March 18 around 5:15 a.m. The driver had fled the scene on foot.

Sgt. Antonucci located Kevin Creeden, a 30-year-old Peekskill resident who owns the vehicle, hiding in a wooded area near the scene and determined he had been the operator. Antonucci found that Creeden was drunk and arrested him for driving while intoxicated, according to the police report. Creeden was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court.

Verplanck Man Caught with Heroin, Police Said

Police say they observed a Verplanck man involved in a drug transaction on the corner of Highland Ave. and Constant Ave on March 18 at 7:55 p.m. Police investigated the incident and recovered two decks of heroin from Steven Strang, a 29-year-old Verplanck resident. He was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court.

Woman Attempts to Hit Neighbor with Baseball Bat, Police Said

On March 19 at 6:45 p.m. Maria Santiago, a 27-year-old Peeskill resident, was arrested for second-degree menacing on the 600 block of Maplewood Avenue. Police said she was charged after attempting to strike her neighbor with an aluminum baseball bat after becoming involved in an argument. Santiago was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court.

DWI

Police officers responding to a report of a motor vehicle accident encountered a 22-year-old Garrison man who had struck two parked vehicles on Frost Avenue, police said. Further investigation revealed the man, identified as Luke Best, had been operating his motor vehicle while intoxicated. Best was transported to the Hudson Valley Hospital for minor injuries sustained in the accident and was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. He was issued an appearance ticket for Peekskill City Court on March 26 at 11 a.m.
