Masquerade Ball Tickets, Indian Point Hearings and a Gallery Opening
Five things you should know for today, Oct. 17..

1.) Indian Point Hearings Continue
The third of four hearings for the license renewal application of the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan take place today at 9 a.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel, at 455 South Broadway in Tarrytown. The session will go on this week through Thursday, before starting up again the weeks of Oct. 22-24 and Dec. 10-14.
2.) Tickets Still Available for KFM Masquerade Ball
Tickets will be for sale for the The Kathleen F. Marks Memorial Foundation’s first annual masquerade ball until Friday. The fundraising event, takes place at the Colonial Terrace in Cortlandt Manor on Friday, Oct. 26. Proceeds from the event will benefit the pediatric oncology division at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. A single ticket costs $130, while a pair will cost $250. A full table will cost $1,200.
3.) Southbound Lanes on Taconic to Close for Paving
The Department of Transportation will be closing southbound Taconic State Parkway lanes, between Underhill Avenue and Routes 100/133, from Wednesday, Oct. 17 through Friday, Oct. 26 for paving and striping activities.
Weather permitting, lane closures will occur on weekdays as follows:
- Single lane closure: 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
- Two lane closure: 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
4.) Book Babies at the Field Library
The Field Library is hosting “Book Babies” today at 11 a.m. Book Babies is an interactive program for children up to 3 years old.) and their caregivers. Children will enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays and play time. No sign-up is required.
5.) Marcy B. Freedman’s Exhibition “FREE NOT FREE” Opens Thursday
Marcy B. Freedman will confront the issue of contemporary consumerism with an installation and a series of interactive performances at the Peekskill Center for the Digital Arts, located at 27 N. Division St. The opening reception takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The artist will give a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m.
