Description:Fred Gillen Jr. cut his teeth as bassist in the popular roots-rock band Rain Deputies before going solo in 1997. He has released numerous CDs and was voted "Best Folk Artist" for 3 consecutive years by readers of The Westchester Weekly.  Matt Turk is a soulful vocalist, who plays the guitar, mandolin and lap steel. He adeptly combines various musical styles and was inspired to write songs of social justice by Pete Seeger and by his three-year stint working for God's Love-We Deliver. Matt has released a number of highly acclaimed albums. The Levins are a folk/pop duo with exquisite vocal harmonies and lyrics that celebrate our interconnectedness. They're entertainers with a palpable connection. The duo has performed for audiences large and small, singing for festivals, coffeehouses, clubs and events from California to Amsterdam. In 2011, they won First Place in the 2011 CT Folk Festival Songwriting Competition.

Croton: Earth Day Celebration

Where: Hilltop Farms Market, 2028 Albany Post Rd. in Croton-on-Hudson.

When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to noon

Cost: Free

Description: Come celebrate Earth Day at the Hilltop Farms Market from 11 am to noon. Adults can enjoy a free coffee when they bring a cup and 10 percent off any one gift item inside the store when they bring a reusable shopping bag. Children can plant their own Norway Spruce seedlings and flower seeds when they bring in two (2) 2 liter soda bottle!

Croton: Vendor Blender Fundraiser

Where: 1 Croton Point Ave. in Croton-on-Hudson

When: Saturday, 1 p.m.

Cost: free

Description: Mother's Day is coming.  Join the Hen Hud leos for a one-stop-shopping vendor blender fundraiser.  Pampered Chef, Avon, Tupperware, Lia Sophia,  Tastefully Simple,  Stamped Up, Gold for Cash, homemade jewelry and many more venders will be there!  Fundraiser is sponsored by Team Don Reynolds and the Hen Hud Leos Stay-Awake-Athon.  Proceeds go directly towards those fighting cancer.

 Cortlandt Manor: Sculpting a Diverse Truth: Battle of Pines Bridge

Where: Van Cortlandtville Historical Society, 297 Locust Ave. in Cortlandt Manor

When: Saturday, 2 p.m.

Cost: Free.

Description:To commemorate the Battle of Pines Bridge in Yorktown, Michael Kahn will present a program entitled Sculpting a Diverse Truth on Saturday afternoon at The Little Red Schoolhouse in Cortlandt Manor.  As project leader of the Battle of Pines Bridge Monument Committee, Mr. Kahn will focus his power point picture program on that crucial Revolutionary War battle and the current efforts to memorialize it.

Montrose: Energy Efficiency and Alternative Energy for Your Home

Where: Hendrick Hudson Free Library, 185 Kings Ferry Rd. in Montrose,

When: Saturday, 3 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description:Homeowners will learn how their homes leak energy, how they can fix it, and how to take advantage of state incentives to increase home comfort, reduce utility costs, improve air quality, and lower overall carbon emissions.  A representative from Energize New York will be on hand to explain programs and help file your application for a FREE or reduced rate comprehensive home energy assessment.  For assistance, please bring your utility account number.

Cortlandt Manor: Open House Studio Event and Sale!

Where: 9 Priscilla Ct. in Cortlandt Manor

When: 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Description: On Saturday, from 3-9 pm April DeMarco is opening her private home and personal workspace to the public taking advantage of her walls, halls and spaces to maximize that interaction  and opportunity where audiences and art can collide in an intimate setting. Talk to the artist about her work and creative process and also learn about her wide offerings for classes and commissions to help you purchase and have original work in your home. Cortlandt Manor: Monte Carlo Night

Where: St. Columbanus Church, 122 Oregon Rd. in Cortlandt Manor, 

When: Saturday, 7:15 p.m.

Cost:$50 in advance, $60 at the door.

Description: St Columbanus Knights of Columbus Council 14991 is hosting a Monte Carlo Night in the church hall on Saturday,  from 7:15 pm to 10:30 pm to support our many charitable efforts.  Anyone 21 years and older is invited. This will be a fun evening with dinner, dancing, 15 table games and chance wheels and a raffle with prizes including a 32 inch flat-screen TV. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door.  Reserve space early, the last event sold out.

Description:Most recognized for his work with Carly Simon, Peter Calo has recorded and performed with such legendary Grammy Award winning artists as James Taylor, Hall and Oats, and renowned record producer Phil Ramone, to mention only a few. He has performed on numerous television appearances, among them Good Morning America, Regis and Kelly, CBS Good Morning and the Late Show with David Letterman both as a band member and separately with featured guests.

Peekskill: Uniting a Community through Education

Where: Peekskill Museum, 124 Union Ave. in Peekskill

When: Sunday at 2 pm

Description:Saturday, April 21st, local historian and passionate Peekskill –Cortlandt photo archivist, Frank Goderre, helps celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Peekskill Free School District. The former president of the Van Cortlandtville Historical Society includes in his Powerpoint presentation, Post World War I, the building of the Bear Mountain Bridge and the consolidation of a severely divided community into one centralized school district after 150 years. Museum opens at 2pm, program starts at 2:15pm.

Peekskill: Dan Lavoie on Harp Guitar at The BeanRunner

Where: The BeanRunner Cafe, 201 S Division St. in Peekskill

When: Sunday, 4:30 p.m.

Description: As one of the few musicians in the world actively composing and performing on the rare harp guitar, Dan LaVoie brings a unique sound and texture to fans of acoustic music. Bob Makin of Relic's Magazine writes "Dan's soaring execution will drop the jaws of unsuspecting acoustic music fans and impress those familiar with this young man's chops!" Reminiscent of the work of Michael Hedges and Richie Havens, Dan's music is sophisticated and compelling, and his live performances are a special experience visually and aurally.

Peekskill: Season of Jazz—Jazz Vespers with Ray Blue

Where: Peekskill Presbyterian Church, 705 South St. in  Peekskill

When: Sunday at 5:30 p.m. 

Cost: Free

Description: International jazz saxophonist Ray Blue and ensemble, will perform jazz vespers for the community, congregation, and jazz enthusiasts on Sunday, in the sanctuary of the Peekskill Presbyterian Church. The Peekskill Presbyterian Church, in partnership with Mr. Blue, is announcing that interfaith vesper services start April 21st and will continue in July, September and December. As April is International Jazz Appreciation Month, special recognition will accorded to jazz artist Duke Ellington.

Croton: Two Who Dared

Where: Sundat at 7:30 p.m.

When: Unitarian Universalist Fellowshipof Briarcliff, Croton, and Ossining, 2021 Albany Post Rd. in Croton-on-Hudson.

Cost: Suggested donation of $5..

Description: Two Who Dared: The Sharps’ War is the inspiring true
story of Unitarian minister Waitstill Sharp and his wife, Martha, who volunteered
to save those being persecuted by Nazis at the onset of World War II.  Leaving their young children in Massachusetts, they risked their lives in Prague (1939) and Vichy France (1940) in order to transport and often accompany hundreds of political dissidents and Jewish refugees to safety. The documentary film will
be shown at UUFBCO, 2021 Albany Post Road (9A), Croton-On-Hudson with a
discussion to follow.

Bedford: Spring into Art Show at St. Patrick's School

Where: St. Patrick's Parochial School at 483 Old Post Road in Bedford

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Cost: $35

Description: A wide range of pieces, including paintings, photographs and sculptures, from local arists will be for sale at the event. Attendees will enjoy refreshments while supporting the arts.

Ossining: Bernie Williams and Gil Parris Quartet

Where: Ossining High School, Route 9, Ossining

When: 6:30 p.m. April 20

Description: This 10th annual Ossining Matters benefit concert "From Center Field to Center Stage" features NY Yankee/Latin Emmy Award nominated Bernie Williams. There are a few tickets left for the concert; the reception is sold out. 

Cost: Adults $40, students, staff, seniors $20

Pleasantville: North America Cup for Table Tennis

Where: Westchester Table Tennis Center

When: Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Description: Pleasantville will play host to the North American table tennis championship this weekend, featuring professionals from the U.S., Canada and Bermuda. U.S. Olympians Ariel Hsing, Lily Zhang and Timothy Wang; and Canada’s Pierre-Luc Theriault, the reigning North American men’s champion, will be among the competitors.

Cost: $10 Saturday; $15 Sunday

Somers: Tour Historic Stone Home

Where: Gerard Crane House in Somers that is located on Route 202

When: Sunday, April 21 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased from Schirmer at dschirmer@somerslandtrust.org.

Description: A Somers couple who lives in a historic stone home, that was built by an early circus entrepreneur, have offered to help the Somers Land Trust raise money for the rebuild of another historic home in the Angle Fly Preserve. They have offered their home, known as the Gerard Crane House that is located on Route 202, as part of a fundraiser. 

Southeast: Brewster Little League Parade

Where: North Main Street to John E. Markel Memorial Park in Brewster

When: 9 a.m. Saturday

Cost: Free

Description: Scores of youngsters will be decked out in this season's jerseys as they march through Brewster and kick off opening day. Participants are hoping for great weather, just like last year's parade, when revelers celebrated the 60 years of Brewster Little League.

Tarrytown: Sassy Ladies Shopping Night Out

Where: The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 455 S. Broadway, Tarrytown

When: Friday, April 19, 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Cost: $15

Description: Enjoy a fun-filled night of shopping, socializing, and new experiences at the 3rd Annual Sassy Ladies Shopping Night Out. Pick up fashion tips and shop until you drop. Each year, the event gets bigger and better, and the organizers are excited to announce that this year they will have over 50 vendors with unique and fabulous products and services. 

Tarrytown: Third Friday

Where: In the businesses and on the sidewalks of Main Street, South Broadway and South Washington Street in Tarrytown.

When: Friday, April 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. (and later for live music in the Set Back Inn).

Cost: Free

Description: Following a long winter break, it’s the first Third Friday of the season which promises a lively spring celebration rich with music, art openings, kids’ activities and more in the center of the village. Some of the offerings include: the live band Four Piece Racket; a W@tercooler open housewith Sleepy Hollow paper artist Laura Carraro on display and a chance to make your own paper collages; Studio A Gallery having an opening reception from 6 to  9 p.m. for Hudson Valley Vista, an exhibit of plein air landscapes by Denise Petit Caplan; and finally, Juke Joint playing at the Set Back Inn with a special horn section, starting at 9:30 p.m. 

Yorktown: 'Sculpting a Diverse Truth' 

Where: The Little Red Schoolhouse in Cortlandt Manor

When: Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. 

Cost: Free

Description: Yorktown police officer Michael Kahn is 'sculpting a diverse truth' with his efforts to create a  in town. As project leader, he will speak this Saturday about the crucial Revolutionary War battle in Yorktown and the current efforts to memorialize it.

Yorktown: Spin & Knit

Where: Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center, 1271 Hanover St. in Yorktown

When: Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Ggather in an informal atmosphere and be part of a monthly spinning and knitting group. No fee or registration required for first time attendees; $5 for each subsequent class.
