Peekskill Man Convicted of Rape

This information is from the Westchester DA's office: Gregory Hicks, a 53 year old Peekskill man was convicted on multiple charges relating to the rape of a female acquaintance. The charges included one count of rape in the first degree, two counds of criminal sexual act in the first degree and one count of assault in the second degree, all felonies. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison on each of the top charges.

On October 22, 2010, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the victim and Hicks, were in a laundry room at 1431 Park Street in Peekskill.

The defendant kissed the victim, an acquaintance, and attempted to undress her.

When she stated she did not want to have sex, the defendant became enraged and punched and kicked the victim, forcing her to the ground.

During the brutal attack, the defendant forcibly raped and sodomized the victim. 

The defendant subsequently fled the scene. 

Citizens heard the victim’s cries for help and contacted police. 

Peekskill Police found the defendant outside the apartment complex within minutes of the assault and brought him to police headquarters for questioning.

The defendant was subsequently arrested and charged.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Assistant District Attorney Michelle Lopez, Deputy Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau, prosecuted the case.
