Peekskill Man Dies After Being Struck By Car In Cortlandt
Police said the man was walking in the westbound lane of Crompond Road.
CORTLANDT, NY — A Peekskill man was killed when he was struck by a car in the town of Cortlandt.
The New York State Police said the fatal car and pedestrian crash happened around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday on Crompond Road.
Troopers were sent to Crompond Road and Lafayette Avenue for a report of someone hit by a car.

Peekskill Emergency Medical Services were already on scene rendering aid to Edwin G. Merchan Tenemea, 34, of Peekskill.
He was taken to Hudson Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the initial investigation found a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling west on Crompond Road and struck Merchan Tenemea who was walking in the westbound lane.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
