Peekskill Man Drove Almost Twice Speed Limit: PD

A police officer on Route 6 said he saw a car that was driving at 83 mph in a 45 mph zone.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill resident was accused of driving a car almost twice the legal speed limit in Yorktown.

The Yorktown Police Department said Jared Lido, 25, of Peekskill, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and speed in zone and multiple traffic infractions.

Around 8:20 p.m. Saturday, a police officer conducting traffic enforcement on Route 6 saw a car that was driving at 83 mph in a 45 mph zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and Lido was identified as the driver, and a check of his driver's license showed it was suspended.

He was arrested and processed at the scene.

Lido was issued traffic tickets and released on his own recognizance at the scene.

He is scheduled to return to the Yorktown Justice Court July 28.
