Peekskill Officials Cite 2 Businesses for Violations

Members of the Peekskill Police Department and the City of Peekskill Building Department recently cited two local businesses: one for a code compliance issue and the other for not complying with the New York State Liquor Authority.

The citations were the result of "ongoing checks of businesses throughout the city to ensure code compliance," officials said in a statement.

While checking several establishments, Sgt. Lenard Mignini and building department officials visited The Patio, located at 1 Bank Street, around 11 p.m. Friday. The restaurant was "operating out of city code compliance," according to police, so authorities shut it down for the evening.

A similar check conducted Saturday night led to the discovery that El Sabor Latino Restaurant, located at 933 South Street, was not in compliance with the New York State Liquor Authority. The owner received a summons and the eatery was closed for the evening.

"The Peekskill Police Department and the City of Peekskill Building Department are  planning on continuing spot checks on businesses throughout the city to enforce state and local codes in an effort to ensure patrons safety and quality of life in the community," authorities said.

El Sabor was cited in 2011 for employing security personnel who had not been state certified.
