At 8 a.m. Monday morning, Oct. 29, the Acting City Manager will declare a State of Emergency for the City of Peekskill. The Peekskill High School Gymnasium on Elm Street will be open at 12 p.m. as an emergency shelter. Cots will be available, residents are urged to bring their own food and water.

Flooding is expected in several area in the City of Peekskill as a result of a Monday’s full moon tide and the storm surge, according to Peekskill city police.
Hudson River tides may be 6 to 8 feet above normal and will likely flood the access road to Travis Point as well as low lying areas on Water Street; North Water Street; Central Avenue; Lower Hudson Avenue; Railroad Avenue; Lower South Street; Louisa Street; John Walsh Boulevard; Welcher Avenue; and Bleloch and McGuire avenues, west of Route 9A.
Police suggest residents in these areas evacuate.
The Peekskill High School Gymnasium will be used as an emergency shelter Monday morning.
The city’s neighborhood center will also be open to the public Monday morning.
Residents may continue to check the government channel and the City of Peekskill Website at www.cityofpeekskill.com for continued updates as the storm progresses.
