Peekskill School to Adopt Budget, an Art Show Opening and a Film Screening

1.) Peekskill Schools to Adopt Budget Tonight
The Peekskill school board is scheduled to adopt its budget for 2013-2014 during Tonight’s school board meeting. The public session of the meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. inside the district office building, located at 1031 Elm Street. Check here for a meeting agenda.
2.) Gallery Opening for David Ostro's "Penteracts" Exhibit Scheduled Tonight

David Ostro, a multimedia artist who lives and works in New York City, is opening his art show tonight at the Westchester Community College Peekskill Extension, located at 27 N. Division St. Ostro holds a BA in Studio Art and Philosophy from Vassar College and a MFA in Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts. This exhibition is co-produced as part of Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art’s Peekskill Project V, A Citywide Festival of Contemporary Art devoted to bringing cutting edge contemporary art out of the museum and into the community. Tonight’s opening is from 5:30p.m. to 7p.m., with Ostro to give a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m.
3.) Screening for the Documentary "Alien Connection" Scheduled Tonight

Westchester Community College Peekskill Extension, located at 27 N. Division St. , is hosting a screening of the documentary “Alien Connection” with filmmaker Michael Corriere tonight at 7 p.m. Alien Connection was chosen by the NewFilmmakers as part of their winter series and was screened at the Anthology Film Archives—Deren Theater in New York City in March of 2012. The event is free.
4.) Hendrick Hudson Library Hosts Genealogy Workshop Tonight
Join Librarian Jackie Graziano of the Westchester County Archives and Hendrick Hudson Free Library for an overview of the process, including tips for starting and getting past roadblocks. Learn about using records held by government offices, libraries, and historical societies, combined with strategies for

5.) Miss Ethnic Queen Pageant Information Session Scheduled Wednesday
An information session is being held for the Just The Place’s annual Miss Ethnic Queen pageant Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. inside the Peekskill Youth Bureau. The pageant, which is coming to Westchester County for the first time this spring, has for levels of competition: Little, for ages 4-7; Jr. Miss, for ages 8-12; Teen Miss, for ages 13-17; and Young Miss, for ages 18-21. Participants will be judged on appearance, performance, evening wear, and personality. The application fee is $50. The Youth Bureau is located at 828 Main St, Peekskill, NY.
