Police: Cortlandt Manor Man Arrested after High Speed Motorcycle Chase in Orange County

David Brown, 24, of Cortlandt Manor, was charged with numerous charges, including a felony count of criminal mischief, after he allegedly led state police on a high speed motorcycle chase on Route 17 in Orange County.

David Brown, 24, of Cortlandt Manor man is scheduled to appear in Wallkill town court Tuesday after he allegedly led police on a high speed chase that lasted through a number of municipalities in Orange County.

Sometime after 10 a.m. Sunday, state police said they received a number of traffic complaints from motorists about a group of motorcycles and vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed on Route 17. Brown, in particular, allegedly rode his bike in the wrong direction of exit 20 on Route 17 in Middletown and almost hit another vehicle.

Troopers said Brown turned around went back on Route 17. The driver of the car that nearly collided with Brown contacted police.

Police eventually caught up with Brown and a high speed chase ensued through the towns of Monroe, Chester, Goshen and Wallkill.

Police said Brown struck two police vehicles before they were able to catch him.

In addition to the criminal mischief charge, Brown was hit with a number of other charges including misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Brown was arraigned and sent to Orange County Jail with bail set at $6,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
