Readers' Choice: Best Place to Walk/Hike

Tell us where you like to enjoy a stroll or more vigorous hike in the area.

Three things that Peekskill and Cortlandt residents are lucky to have access to is the Hudson River, the Hudson Highlands and beautiful natural parks. People tend to gravitate towards a favorite path or trail while always having opportunities to explore new ones.

One place I had heard about but only recently explored is the beautiful Annsville Trail, truly a hidden gem to be found.

If you drive down past the Jan Peek House, you approach a gate that leads to the park. Drive along the dirt path next to the train tracks for about a quarter of a mile and you end up in a small park that features a gazebo, a pier and two walking paths. One path leads up towards Route 9 and across the Jan Peek bridge over Annsville Creek. The other path leads down beneath the bridge.
