Way of the Cross at Depew Park

When: March 29, 1 p.m.

Description: A costumed cast of 50-75 parishioners of the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill to include their Parochial Vicar, Father Vincent Druding as Jesus, will gather at Depew Park in Peekskill on Friday, March 29, 1:00 pmto depict the Stations of the Cross.  Also, known as the Way of the Cross, this ancient devotion is practiced especially during Lent as a means of recreating the last hours of Jesus’ walk to Calvary and His crucifixion.  This is the 11th year parishioners have gathered for this devotion which has grown steadily every year.   Last year, Father Vincent Druding  marked the first year a priest portrayed the role of Jesus and, he will join the cast again this year as Jesus.

Celebrating Women in Jazz with SAGE!

Description: SAGE, the all-women jazz, blues and contemporary ensemble, has a sound that transcends time and generation. Part contemporary, part sassy, part nostalgic, these ladies deliver what every music audience is looking for, the best in the art. SAGE features Bernice Brooks on drums, Kersten Stevens on violin, Miriam Sullivan on bass, Ragan Whiteside on flute & vocals and Miki Hayama on piano. The group has appeared with Ray Charles, Denzel Washington, Regina Carter, the Duke Ellington Show Choir and many others. SAGE also headlined at the 2009 Inaugural Ball.
