A 34-year-old Peekskill man is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated following a recent traffic stop on Interstate 84, police say.
Troopers from the Southeast Barracks arrested Jose R. Avelar at about 2:10 a.m. Saturday. They stopped Avelar, who was headed west through the town of Southeast in a 2011 GMC Terrain, because one of his headlights was out, according to officials.
Avelar's blood-alcohol level was 0.15 percent, authorities said. The legal limit is 0.08 percent. He was released pending a June 20 appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
