Trustee William Oricchio to Resign From Board of Education

From the It is with regret that the Hendrick Hudson Board of Education announces the resignation of long-time trustee William Oricchio, effective July 1, 2012.

“The Hendrick Hudson School District has had many accomplishments over the six years of my tenure on this Board, which has made this endeavor both fulfilling and worthwhile. However, at this point in my life, I need to take time to focus on my career and devote more time to my family,” said Oricchio. “It has been a pleasure to help lead our district through these challenging yet rewarding times. I’d like to thank my fellow trustees and the community for their support,“ concluded Oricchio. 

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank Bill for his dedicated service to our schools and community. His steady demeanor and financial expertise have been instrumental in the success of our schools. We will miss him at the Board table and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said Board of Education President Marion Walsh.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Bill over these last six years,” remarked Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel McCann. “Bill has helped to guide our district through trying financial times, consistently lending his expertise and leadership to help resolve the challenges we have faced. He has been an advocate for our students and represented our community admirably.”

The Board of Education will conduct a search to fulfill the remainder of Oricchio’s term which expires on June 30, 2013. The Board of Education will conduct interviews and hopes to have a nominee in place to take office at the annual Board of Education Reorganizational Meeting on July 14, 2012. 

Oricchio was first appointed to the Board of Education to fulfill the unexpired term of Ellette Chatkin in November of 2006.  He has since been reelected twice, most recently in May of 2010.
