Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Halloween Treat-or-Treat Volunteers

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.
This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
Halloween Treat-or-Treat Volunteers
Join Mend By Me for its free, circus-themed Halloween Trick-or-Treat event with the Peekskill Elks Lodge. Fun and energetic volunteers are needed to help oversee games, hand out candy and snacks, dress up in costume, and bring big smiles to children in the community. This is perfect for volunteers who are 16+ (or 14+ as part of an adult's team).
Date: 10/31 from 2:30-7:30 p.m.

Community Garden Maintenance
Ward Acres Community Garden is seeking volunteers to help maintain the garden and surrounding areas. Activities may include weeding, mulching, mowing, digging, and more. All tools will be provided and volunteers should dress for outdoor work, including wearing a hat, sunscreen, closed-toe work shoes, and work gloves.

English Tutors
Family Services of Westchester's Family Mental Health Clinic staff are seeking English tutors for some of their teen and "tween" clients in Port Chester. Volunteers must be 16+.

Home Litter Care Volunteers
BluePath Service Dogs is seeking volunteers who live within 45 minutes of its Wappingers Falls facility to welcome a breeder mom (brood) and her pups into their homes for approximately five weeks. Home Litter Care Volunteers provide early socialization and care for its youngest future service dogs, while also offering love and support to their mom. The time commitment varies dependent on the size of the litter but includes intensive cleaning, regular feeding, walking the brood, and daily grooming. All equipment and supplies are provided, with the exception of newspaper.
