Peekskill, Verplanck Named in 'Best Places to Live' by Westchester Magazine

On March 19 Westchester Magazine published it's "Westchester Real Estate Guide: Best Places to Live in Westchester County." The article lists the best places in the county for kids, archetecture, nature, sports bars, shopping, foodies, culture lovers, etc.

Our very own Verplanck and Peekskill were listed among the "best of" list that included Armonk, Pleasantville, Rye, Katonah, Bronxville and other more wealthy areas of Westchester.

Verplanck was listed as "Best Place for Waterfront views (west)" (Mamaroneck won east) and Peekskill was listed as "best place for art lovers."

The article quotes Verplanck associate broker Helena Macintyre, who points out that Verplanck's views are not marred by the railroad tracks, homes are available for less than $500,000 and taxes are lower, making the hamlet an attractive place to live.

Peekskill was listed as "Best Place for Art Lovers," and writer Dave Donelson listed a lot of the popular coffee shops, art gallaries and art stores in the downtown, including The , , and more. Donelson attributes the successful artist community to the city's affordable live-work spaces built 10 years ago and the subsequent artist lofts that have and continue to attract artists to the city.
