What is Closed on President’s Day; Lincoln Parade, Free BBQ

1. President’s Day Weekend

Monday is President’s Day, a Federal holiday designated to recognize past President’s birthday. It was originally known as Washington’s Birthday and is celebrated the third Monday of February every year.

Here is what is closed on President’s Day:

Schools; Government Buildings: post office, City Hall, Town Hall; Most Banks, but your smaller local bank may be open so check with them.

2. Lincoln Parade

Don’t miss the Lincoln Society’s Lincoln Parade and reenactment on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Read more about it here.

3. Free BBQ at Salvation Army

Senator Greg Ball is hosting a free community Barbeque at the Peekskill Salvation Army at 12 p.m. Saturday.

4. Visit Patch at the “Office”

Me and Advertising Manager Gina DeBonis will be at the Peekskill Coffee House next Wednesday morning (Feb. 22) from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. to meet with anyone interested in learning more about Patch, saying hi or just getting a free cup of joe out of us. 5. Warm and Sunny

Don’t let yesterday’s weather worry you, the National Weather Service forecast reports today and tomorrow should be sunny with highs near 50. We might see snow Saturday night after 4 a.m. and before 9 a.m. Sunday. Sunday should be mostly cloudy with a high near 37. Monday should be mostly sunny with a high near 40.
