Peekskill: The Last Mambo King Orlando Marin at The BeanRunner

Where: The BeanRunner Cafe, 201 S Division St. in Peekskill.

Description: Orlando Marin, a contemporary of such greats as Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez, is the only orchestra leader from New York’s golden era of mambo who still performs regularly. Orlando formed his first band, Eddie Palmieri and his Orchestra and, since then, has played with several different bands and has performed in the famous Palladium Ballroom. In 1997, Latin music historiographer Max Salazar presented Orlando a plaque in recognition of nearly five decades of uninterrupted contribution to Latin music.

Cold Spring: Pedal into Spring- Cold Spring Flower Festival

Where: 137 Main St. in Cold Spring

Description: Sponsored by the Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce, this event will take place on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 and will celebrate the arrival of Spring with a spectacular Flower Festival featuring special deals at local shops, children's activities, a walking tour of Village gardesn and so much more.  On Sunday, cyclists will take part in the Ridge Hill Classic International Bicycle Race that begins and ends in Cold Spring.

Description: Adam Larson Quintent, Nils Weinhold (guitar), Can Olgun (keyboard), Chris Talio (bass), Jason Burger (drums). Saxophonist-composer Adam Larson began playing saxophone at the age of 11. Described by critic Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune as "a player for whom the word 'prodigious' was coined", and by Peter Hum of the Ottaw Citizen as "a saxophonist who brings Donny McCaslin and Mark Turner to mind", Larson has garnered numerous awards.

Description: New Middle Class is Barbara and Mike Borok. Their original songs walk a razor thin line between the funny and the serious. Their songwriter awards include Grand Prize at the 2003 Music to Life Songwriting Contest at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.
Actress/lyricist Sarah Knapp is known for her work on the stage (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Nunsense) and together with composer/music director Steve Alper wrote the Drama Desk nominated musical, The Immigrant. In concert, Sarah and Steve play a jazzy mix of vintage standards with a few originals. Accompanied by the Steve Alper Quartet.
This concert will benefit the Reformed Temple of Putnam Valley. 

Peekskill: The Art of Having a Baby Maternity Fair

Where: Hudson Valley Hospital Center, 1980 Crompond Rd in Cortlandt Manor.

Description:To help educate aspiring parents, Hudson Valley Hospital Center holds its annual “Art of Having a Baby” Maternity Fair, which will be held this year on Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hospital lobby. This year’s theme: “Planning, Pregnancy and Parenting” will give couples practical advice on the road to parenthood even if they are not yet expecting, but just considering having a baby.

Description: The Flat Iron Gallery, located at 105 So. Division St., Peekskill, N.Y. will have a new solo art exhibit of cut paper collage by Croton artist, Susan MacMurdy, entitled, “Long Looks and Parting Glances”. Carmel: 8th Annual Children's Expo and Public Safety Day

Chappaqua: Story Walk at Gedney Park

Description: StoryWalk™ is an outdoor reading activity. StoryWalk will begin directly behind the playground located in the front of Gedney Park. Look for the “StoryWalk” sign. All are welcome to visit this free StoryWalk. The featured book selection is “and then it’s spring” by Julie Fogliano, illustrated by Erin E. Stead. The story perfectly captures those early days of winter-sneaking-into-spring, when we’re eagerly searching for any signs of fresh color and new life. And then suddenly, spring is sprung!

Croton-on-Hudson: St. A's 5K Walk to Squash Hunger

When: Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m.

Where: Senasqua Park, Elliot Way & Half Moon Bay Dr, Croton on Hudson

Description: Saint Augustine’s Episcopal Church will host the St. A’s 5K Run/Walk to Squash Hunger on Saturday, May 4th at 9am. Race proceeds will benefit the Cortlandt Emergency Food Bank. Race registration and start/finish line will be at Senasqua Park, Elliot Way, Croton on Hudson.

Katonah: Spotlight Theater Presents Young Frankenstein

Description: Spotlight Theater presents the Mel Brooks musical. Dr. Frankenstein aims to fulfill his grandfather's legacy by bringing a corpse back to life. Ossining: Bicentennial Sculpture Exhibit Opening Reception

When: 3-5 p.m. May 5

Where: Ossining Municipal Building

Cost: Free

Description: This 25-piece outdoor sculpture exhibit through the Village of Ossining’s historic buildings and downtown waterfront area will be open to the public through Oct. 26. The meet-the-artists reception includes hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and a tour of the sculptures. Can't make it to the party? The sculpture walk is approximately 1.5 miles. Description: Violinist Benjamin Beilman, together with his piano collaborator Yekwon Sunwoo, will perform works by Francis Poulenc, Johannes Brahms, Olivier Messiaen and Franz Schubert. Beilman is the recipient of Friends of Music Concerts’ Fourth Performance Award.
