Michaels Crafts A Return To Westchester Shopping Center After Nearly 2 Years Away
The Michaels store in Pelham Manor announced it was closing in 2023, but a new store is about to open its doors just across the street.

PELHAM MANOR, NY — Michaels is back.
When the Michaels location that was in the Pelham Manor Shopping Plaza was getting ready to close in December 2023, store employees told Patch that the store would be relocating to the Post Road Plaza.
Almost two years later, area crafters, DIY decorators and home designers can now celebrate.

Michaels announced that it is holding its grand opening celebration at its new Pelham Manor location (Post Road Plaza, 855 Pelham Parkway) on Friday, and the whole community is invited.

Guests are encouraged to "bring your friends and family for a day of free food, crafting, and giveaways to celebrate Michaels joining the neighborhood."

The festivities will take place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., kicking off with a mayoral ribbon-cutting ceremony, free crafts, giveaways, local food favorites. The company says that there will be cricut demos, along with a DJ, balloon artist, and a clown.

According to the company, the new location will bring several full-time and part-time jobs to the area over the next year. The store manager is Donna Russell-McDonald, while the district manager is Anthony Florio.

"The new store is a sleeker, simpler Michaels featuring self-checkout registers, a Michaels Custom Framing center, The Knit & Sew Shop, The Party Shop, and a curated assortment of the most popular supplies and componentry across arts, crafts, fabrics, framing, floral, kids’ crafts, DIY, yarn, beading, and scrapbooking to inspire creativity in the surrounding community," the company said. "Michaels also offers everything you need to create and celebrate — from balloons and decorations to in-store birthday parties and private events."
Michaels says that it will open several new stores with this updated format featuring self-service "Buy Online Pick-Up In Store" (BOPIS) and curbside pick-up. The company says that the new format "represents Michaels' ongoing innovations across every facet of the business to bring customers a more seamless shopping experience."
According to the company's website, Michaels was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Irving, Texas. They currently operate over 1,300 stores in 49 states and Canada. Their locations carry a wide range of arts and crafts supplies, frames, home décor, holiday/seasonal items, and more. They also offer onsite classes and events.
