NY State Comptroller Determines Pelham School District Is Financially Healthy

The comptroller has confirmed the school district is free of financial strain after finishing state analysis.

From Pelham Union Free School District: Following a review of the District’s 2016 annual financial report, the Office of the New York State Comptroller recently confirmed that the Pelham Union Free School District has not been designated as being in fiscal stress or susceptible to environmental stress.

In 2013, the state implemented a statewide fiscal monitoring system to identify local governments, including school districts, experiencing financial strain. Pelham’s historically strong financial position has been affirmed by favorable ratings each year of this monitoring system.

The Comptroller’s review includes analysis of the District’s fund balance, financial operating results, cash position and use of short-term debt, among other factors.

Earlier this school year, Standard and Poor’s reaffirmed the District’s AAA bond rating. “We are pleased that the State Comptroller’s Office has once again determined that our schools are financially healthy,” said Superintendent Dr. Peter Giarrizzo. “I want to thank the current and previous Boards of Education, as well as our Business Office employees for their continued work in ensuring that our schools are fiscally responsible.”
