Patch Picks: Grab a Steaming Cup of Coffee

Patch is often jonesing for a hot cup of joe to wake us up. These are the five spots you'll likely find us with our laptops, getting our caffeine fix.

You may come for the coffee, but you’ll stay for the scene, the WiFi and chance to cozy up in the window seat while sifting through a stack of newspapers. While ordering your drink, you can unabashedly spit out a mouthful of specifications, from requesting soy milk to add to your large extra hot foamy latte, to making sure you get hazelnut or mocha syrup dropped in your drink. Just remember, have the $1.63 to $4 in bills on hand, because this spot only takes cash during the day.

While this café serves up eclectic diner options with Brazilian and Italian flairs, the coffee here is the self-serve kind. Pour yourself a small cup for $1.50 or a large for just one dollar extra and spice up your brew with vanilla or hazelnut.

Because a pastry is a lonely sight without a cup of coffee, Provisions Café and Bake Shop makes sure to have your regular American brew available. The beans are roasted in house at a firm in Yonkers, so you feel heartened supporting a local business, and pretty dainty too, while you sip out of a blue willow patterned tea cup.

The wait staff at the Pelham Café eagerly eyes your mug to make sure that they fill it up, before you suck down the last drop. As is the case with most diners, you’re just getting your standard cup of coffee, where a large runs you $1.85 and a small costs $1.15.

Nab a seat at the counter of this no-frills Pelham staple when you’re jonesing for a jolt, because Joey’s doesn’t offer up the decaf kind. Get a small cup of coffee for $1.25, a large for just 50 cents extra or a large cappuccino for $2.
