Pelham Manor Police Blotter: Struck Police Cars, Basement Burglaries and Kids Wandering Away from Mom

Police Car Struck by Pickup Truck

Officer Romano’s police car was struck by a pickup truck with a plow attached to the front of the vehicle. Romano was driving straight in the right lane of Pelham Parkway traveling northbound when the driver of the pickup truck attempted to make a right turn from the left lane and hit Romano’s car. Empress ambulance responded to the scene to transport Romano to Sound Shore Medical Center. The truck driver was unharmed.

False Alarm at Fairway

Navco Alarms got a notification that the alarm was activated at Fairway, however, it was a false alarm and store personnel said they're working to rectify its security system.

Burglary at Boston Post Road

Feb. 19

4:52 a.m.

An African American male set off the alarm in the basement of 4810 Boston Post Road on Feb. 19 at around 4:16 a.m. The perpetrator made several attempts to gain entry into the building and was ultimately successful when he broke through the electric meter room, a surveillance camera confirmed. The man fled the scene once the alarm sounded and nothing was stolen. Police were unable to lift usable prints from the scene.

10-Year-Old Found Wandering Around Omni Fitness

Feb. 19

4:41 p.m.

When a 10-year-old asked the Omni Fitness staff if he could work out, even though his mom didn’t know he left home, the police were called in to pick up the hopeful gym rat. His mom eventually fetched him from the police station.
