Pelham Manor 'Wife Swap'

A Pelham Manor mom, who feels American parents are too easy on their children, will appear on TV's "Wife Swap" program.

Pelham Manor's Yelena Zusin will be on the next episode of ABC's "Wife Swap" on Thursday.  Zusin, who is said to be a Russian "Tiger Mom," will trade lives for two weeks with lenient and permissive mom April Markiewicz.

Yelena lives with her husband, Oleg, and three children, 9-year-old Aiden and 8-year-old twin girls Elizabeth and Annabelle here in Pelham Manor. Yelena and Oleg say they "feel American parents are too easy on their children, so their children's days are filled with lots of after-school activities, including figure skating, gymnastics and piano practice. Yelena and Oleg believe their children should be the best in everything they do and never quit."

In the first episode, when Yelena meets her new family, the show's producers say she's "shocked by Alex's lack of discipline and disrespectful attitude. She finds no structure or direction in the other family's home, and thinks that April and Mark Markiewicz are lazy parents. Determined to get Alex out of his room and motivated to try new things, Yelena has him lock up all of his video games and replaces them with new, physical activities."

The Pelham Manor "Wife Swap" episode runs on Aprl 24 at 8 p.m.
