Pelham Memorial HS Names Athletes of the Week

From Pelham Public Schools: Seniors Luke Persanis and Gibson Smith, juniors Lorenzo Bertuccioli and George Dunhill and freshman Maria Comerford were named PMHS Athletes of the Week.

Persanis captained the Rugby team to a 62-0 win over St. Anthony's High School and scored a try while assisting on five other tries.

Smith and Dunhill had a great week for the boys’ lacrosse team. Smith, a captain and defenseman, has locked down the opposition’s top players while recording 19 ground balls and causing 14 turnovers over a four-game span. Over the same four games Dunhill, a midfielder, led the team with a combined 12 goals and 7 assists and has shouldered the burden of the offense while the Pelicans dealt with injuries.

Bertuccioli, who is on the track team, won both the long jump (19’ 8”) and triple jump 41’ 8”) in a quad meet against Byram Hills, Ardsley and Rye.

Comerford, playing for the girls’ lacrosse team, notched four interceptions and caused eight total turnovers during a victory last week.
