
The domestic season has ended for the Pelham Community Rowing Association, but some of its members aren't finished yet.
Four of the PCRA athletes were chosen to train and compete for facets of the U.S. Junior Women's National Team in New London, Conn., after the season ended – Liliane Lindsay, a senior at Harrison High School, Ellie Sawyer, a junior at Mamaroneck High School, Julia Sesler, a senior at Riverdale Country Day, and Yasmine Hemida, a sophomore at Syracuse University, according to a PCRA press release.
Sawyer and Sesler were invited to the 2014 World's Development Team, which trains in Banyoles, Spain, after the High Performance Camp. Sawyer attended, but an injury prevented Selser from going.
Lindsay was one of 14 chosen to represent the U.S. at the World Rowing Championships and has been training in in Lithuania. She was asked to lead her boat as stroke seat of the 8+.
The domestic season was a successful one for the PCRA, according to the release – the team raised more than $60,000 to buy new racing shells during the spring season, and PCRA earned five championship trophies at the New York State Championships.
