Pelham's Summer Stars Get a Leg-Up on the School year
Students from four elementary schools have a chance to mix it up during the six-week long "Summer Stars." The program features both academics and enrichment activities in a small group setting.
Approximately 40 Pelham students from kindergarten through fifth gradeΒ are participating in "Summer Stars" this year. TheΒ Β six-week program offered by the District ensures students will maintain fundamental skills for their grade.Β
Teacher in Charge, Jackie Soccodato, from Hutchinson School, said in a release from the district, Β βOur goal is to ensure these students start in September with a stronger foundation.β Β
The summer program includes students from four elementary schools andΒ focuses on both Math and English Language Arts, withΒ groups benefitting fromΒ smaller numbersΒ than typical school year class sizes. Β Β

Summer Stars was held in the middle school this year. Β Teaching the Summer Stars program this summerΒ are Janet Williamson, Lisa Buzin, Melissa Magiet, Carin Pinsker and Christina Altero.
