From Pelham Public Schools: The Pelham Board of Education has begun a national search for the next superintendent of schools and is asking the community to participate in two forums on Monday, April 24 at 7:30 pm in the Middle School Library and Tuesday, April 25 at 10:30 am in PMHS Alumni Hall.
The forums, which are open to the public, will be hosted by the Pelham Board of Education and the District’s search consultant, Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates. Each session will be moderated by either John Chambers or Deborah Raizes, the HYA associates who are working on the search with the District.
Additionally an online survey for community members can be accessed at https://ecrasurvey.com/pelham or by following the link on the District website (www.pelhamschools.org). The survey will be open until April 26.

“Public participation will be an essential part of the search for our next superintendent,” said Board of Education President Marianne Gilland. “It is important for our consultants to learn what characteristics and strengths our community desires in our next superintendent. We encourage everyone to attend these forums and participate in the survey.”
The information gleaned from the forums, the survey, and focus groups with District stakeholders will be used to formulate a leadership profile that will be used by HYA to recruit candidates that are a strong match for Pelham. The Board and HYA are hopeful that the leadership profile will be presented in May and recruitment can begin shortly thereafter. A slate of top candidates will then be reviewed and interviewed by the Board of Education.

The search process will be similar to what took place in 2012, which was also led by HYA. That search resulted with the hiring of current Superintendent Dr. Peter Giarrizzo, who is resigning effective Aug., 16, 2017 to take a position at the North Shore Central School District on Long Island.
