Vote Nears For Pelham School Budget And Board Members
Residents can vote on proposed budget increases and school board candidates.

The Pelham Public School District has proposed a 2016-17 school budget, which totals $70,938,00. That's an increase of $783,400 over the 2015-16 school budget.
The increase amounts to a budget-to-budget change of 1.12 percent.
The property tax levy change amounts to 0.05 percent, which is under the state's allowable tax levy change of 0.23 percent.

Pelham Public School District residents can vote on the budget from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the main high school gym.
Residents can also vote for three school board candidates. The candidates are Christa Acampora, Tom Imperato, and Peter Liaskos.

Board of Education members are responsible for:
- Selecting the superintendent and annually appraising his/her performance.
- Defining the educational philosophy of the district.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of district programs and services.
- Appointing and setting salaries for professional and non-certificated personnel.
- Establishing policies for the operation of the school district that allow it to meet the goals .
- Preparing, presenting, and adopting a budget consistent with educational goals.
