Wednesdays Are Momsdays

Wednesday on Pelham Patch is dedicated to moms and the issues they face parenting. Dads are welcome, too.

Pelham Patch works to provide local news, feature interesting people, events and activities each day. Starting today, we're adding to that content by launching a series of articles dedicated to local moms.

Each Wednesday, Momsday kicks off at 9 a.m. with Urban Suburban Mom Hits the Road, a weekly peek at luxury getaways within driving distance.

The Grab and Go Kids Planner will run at 10 a.m., featuring family-friendly weekend activities; at 12 p.m., we'll run a profile of a local Whiz Kid—and we're still taking nominations. Please check out today's story about record-breaking swimmer Lissy Schauer and send the info on your favorite whiz kid to eleanor.goldberg@patch.com.

Mom's Talk, which happens at 1 p.m., is an interactive session featuring a council of local parents talking about important issues, experiences and the ups and downs of parenting (Dads welcome!). To participate, come back at 1 p.m. to comment on the story. Today's topic: Do kids lead crazy busy lives?

The Patch Moms Council is still looking for members. If you would like to be on this advisory council—again, Dads are welcome, too—email eleanor.goldberg@patch.com. The only responsibilities council members have are to let us know what topics they feel are important for weekly discussion, and to share opinions and local resources whenever possible.

We round out Momsday with a 4 p.m. post called The Great Escape. The column features one idea for moms to escape—a weekend getaway, a place to go in town, a thought on how to take a pause from parenting and think about yourself.

Of course, you'll still be able to find news and other features on Wednesdays and every day on the New Rochelle Patch. Let us know what you think about Momsday. Email me!
