Bank Robber Nabbed While Stopping For Food After Heist: Nassau Police

Police say the man was arrested at a McDonald's just a mile down the road from the bank he robbed.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Nassau County police arrested a man they say robbed a bank in Plainview on Monday after he stopped to eat a short time later.

According to police, Dean Marneris, 54, of Wantagh, entered the TD Bank located at 500 Old Country Road at 2:44 p.m. He approached a teller and demanded money, police said.

When the teller questioned him, police say Marneris motioned as if he had a gun in his waistband. The teller then gave him cash, and police say Marneris fled the bank on foot.

There were five employees and two customers in the bank at the time of the robbery.

After investigating, police say they located Marneris at a McDonalds just a mile down Old Country Road. He was arrested at 4:14 p.m.

Marneris is charged with third-degree robbery. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
