First Responders Honored With 'Heroes Way' In Plainview
A stretch of Old Country Road in front of Plainview Hospital was renamed "Heroes Way" to honor coronavirus pandemic first responders.

PLAINVIEW, NY — A stretch of Old Country Road in Plainview was renamed "Heroes Way" this week into recognize first responders, hospital staff and other health care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
Nassau County Legislator Arnie Drucker of Plainview and Nassau County Executive Laura Curran renamed the section of the road, in front of Plainview Hospital and between Kalda Lane and Central Park Road, at ceremony Tuesday morning. Mask-wearing and social distancing were observed during the ceremony, Newsday reported.
The renaming was "a lasting tribute" to hospital workers, as well as firefighters and first responders from the Plainview Fire Department, across the street from the hospital, Drucker said.

"Health care workers, first responders and essential workers fortified our community and provided the support we all needed to overcome the greatest challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic," Drucker said a statement. "They are profoundly deserving of this public tribute to their courageous service, and I am proud to join County Executive Curran and the entire Plainview community as we salute our hometown heroes."
