Local Fire Departments Salute Plainview Hospital Workers
Fire trucks passed in a procession to show gratitude to the North Shore University Hospital staff.
PLAINVIEW, NY — Volunteer fire departments joined forces on Saturday night outside North Shore University Hospital of Plainview to say thank you with a procession of trucks and sirens. In County Executive Steve Bellone's Sunday briefing on the coronavirus pandemic in Suffolk County, he said sirens would be heard across the county at 7 p.m., as a coordinated thank you gesture from first responders, ambulance workers and volunteer fire departments.
Victoria Di Raimondo captured video of the moment in Plainview. She has family members who volunteer with the Melville fire department, she told Patch. Melville, along with Farmingdale and Plainview, were represented among the procession.
The Plainview Volunteer Fire Department posted a message on the hospital's Facebook page saying simple, "To our healthcare professionals, thank you. From, the first responders."
