• Northwell nurses strike looms as negotiation talks continue (newsday.com) — Nurses at Northwell’s Plainview Hospital, along with Syosset and Huntington, could go on strike as early as Monday amid a standoff over staffing levels and nurse-to-patient ratios. The union says current workloads are unsafe, while Northwell insists staffing is adequate and negotiations are continuing with contingency plans in place if a walkout happens.
   

• Farmingdale man charged in DWI accident seriously injuring another driver (massapequapost.com) — A critically injured driver from a Melville crash was first taken to Plainview Hospital after police say a Farmingdale man driving a Mazda while intoxicated struck his Toyota on Dec. 26. The victim was later transferred to a Manhasset hospital, and Suffolk County Police are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Second Squad detectives.
