Plainview Hospital Names New Medical Director
Evangelos Loukas will take over the role from Alan Mensch, who has filled the position since 1995.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Plainview Hospital has appointed Dr. Evangelos Loukas, DO, as its medical director. Loukas succeeds Dr. Alan Mensch, who will retire this year after serving as the hospital’s medical director since 1995.
Loukas served as the director of the hospital medicine program at Plainview and Syosset hospitals from 2018 to 2020. In 2020, Loukas was appointed associate medical director for both Plainview and Syosset hospitals.
“We are looking forward to Dr. Loukas taking on the role of medical director of Plainview Hospital,” said Michael Fener, executive director of Plainview and Syosset hospitals. “He has been a valuable member of our staff, not only as a physician, but also as a leader. His experience and knowledge of our clinical teams, coupled with his understanding of bringing high-level patient care to our community make him an asset to our hospital.”

Loukas earned his medical degree from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. He went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH). He joined NSUH as a hospitalist in 2008. For 10 years, Loukas served as co-site director and as an associate division chief for the NSUH/Long Island Jewish Medical Center division of hospital medicine playing an integral role in its expansion.
As medical director of Plainview Hospital, Loukas will preside over the hospital’s clinical staff as well as the advanced care practitioner, case management and social work teams.
