Plainview Mathletes Place in Top 20 in Nassau Math Tournament
More than 600 students in grades 9-12 competed.

The Plainview-Old Bethpage School District’s John F. Kennedy High School Mathletes team recently participated in the Nassau County Math Tournament. Students Matthew Hirsch, Aaron Meyers, Kevin Park, Evan Rinder and Aaron Tetens finished in the top 20 out of the 64 teams that partook in the Upper Division Team Competition.
In the individual scoring, Aaron Tetens finished in 20th place out of 152 seniors. Aaron Meyers finished in 16th place out of 160 juniors. During the competition, students solved 15 math problems without calculators, 10 complex math problems with calculators and 20 final problems in teams. Over 600 students in grades 9-12 competed.
The Mathletes Club allows students to participate in various competitions on Long Island, challenging students to solve complex math problems in a timed environment.
