Plainview-Old Bethpage Students Learn The Drama of Science

Stratford Road Elementary School brings science lessons to life.

First and second grade teachers and students at Stratford Road Elementary School recently participated in a workshop with Karen Erickson, an internationally acclaimed theatre educator who has trained artists and teachers in drama education for more than 20 years.

Plainview teachers learned how to integrate science concepts and drama strategies to design drama-themed activities that incorporate teamwork and creative problem solving. Students demonstrated how the suggested hands-on activities will make their science lessons more exciting in the classroom.

The Plainview-Old Bethpage School District offered this program through their participation in the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts Partners in Education program. This program is designed to assist arts organizations throughout the nation to develop and expand educational partnerships with local school systems.
