With the East Coast on edge after the Boston bombings and ongoing manhunt, local employees were forced to endure a bomb threat that forced the evacuation of a Jericho office building Friday.
The employees have returned to their offices in a Cablevision-owned building after police determined a bomb threat had been a fake.
Detectives said an unknown caller dialed 911 at 9:52 a.m. and reported there were bombs located at 200 Jericho Quadrangle, the home of the offices of Cablevision Lightpath. Second Precinct police officers, the Canine Unit and Emergency Services Unit descended on the scene.
The building was quickly evacuated and an extensive search conducted, police said. No devices were located and the building was reopened about 1:15 p.m.. No injuries were reported.
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
“The safety of our employees is our paramount concern," Cablevision said after the evacuation ended. "We have cooperated fully with the authorities."
