Plainview JFK's 'The Hawks Nest wins prestigious award.
Plainview JFK's student-run school store, ‘The Hawk’s Nest,’ was among 166 School-Based Enterprises in the United States to achieve Gold Level Re-certification from DECA this year and will be recognized at their International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California.
High School DECA students Spencer Pokorny, Elijah Sauer, and Erica Talkofsky worked diligently to secure the certification with the assistance of their DECA advisors, Mrs. Lindsay DeLucca, Ms. Jennifer Santorello and Mr. Mike Amubry, school officials said.
School-Based Enterprises are educational tools designed to help prepare students for the transition from school to work or college. For many students, they provide their first work experience; for others, they provide an opportunity to build management, supervision and leadership skills.
