Briarcliff Hydrant Flushing Set for This Week
Some residents may experience discolored (but otherwise harmless) water while the water mains are cleared.

Several local streets in the Village of Briarcliff Manor may experience discolored water sometime between Wednesday and Friday as hydrants undergo their annual flushing.
"Phase 1 hydrant flushing of our primary transmission mains is complete," Village Manager Philip Zegarelli said in his Friday update, "now for the seasonal more local flushing."
Their will be multiple DPW crews working from Wednesday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
"Crews are to flush individual hydrants off of area water mains," Zegarelli said. "Subject to daily events and conditions, the areas to be flushed are: Long Hill Road East from Sleepy Hollow Road to South State Road, South State Road, Elm Road, Birch Road, Pine Road, Tuttle Road, Hawthorne Place, Balsam Road."
While the flushing is underway, water may be discolored.
"Please understand that you may wish to alter such activities as your laundry routine: avoiding these time periods in particular," Zegarelli said. "However, even if discolored, continuing laboratory testing has indicated that in the past the water has contained no harmful bacteria."
