Briarcliff Manor Police Blotter: Hit & Run; Raccoon at Front Door

The following is from the Briarcliff Manor Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Briarcliff Manor Police Department from May 20—26, 2013.

Sunday, May 26

8:04 p.m. — A Sleepy Hollow Road resident reported a hit and run accident near his property. The homeowner said his wife saw a vehicle strike a large rock at the end of their driveway before driving away. A piece of the car's light was recovered at the scene. 

9:19 a.m. — A Macy Road resident reported to police that her landscaper found a package in her bushes. Upon further inspection, the woman said the package was addressed to her and safe.

Saturday, May 25


9:02 a.m. — Police responded to the scene of a minor auto accident near Weldon's Stationers on Pleasantville Road. No injuries were reported.

Friday, May 24

11:11 a.m. — Police stopped a vehicle on Pleasantville Road that appeared to have a suspended registration. The driver was taken into police headquarters for processing and while at the station, the insurance company provided proof that there was no lapse in coverage. The vehicle, which had previously been impound, was released along with the driver.

Thursday, May 23

2:26 p.m. — Police received a report of wires burning on Scarborough Road. Police and the Department of Public Works responded to the scene and the Fire Department was dispatched. Con Edison was notified and the condition was corrected.

Tuesday, May 21

11:39 p.m. — A Chilmark Shopping Center business notified police that the front glass door had been broken. Responding officers interviewed the business' owner, who said he had witnessed someone slamming the door, causing it to break.

Monday, May 20

9:36 a.m. — A Pleasantville Road resident reported seeing a raccoon at the home's front door. Police responded and checked the area, but did not find any raccoon.
