Briarcliff MS Mathletes Have Strong Showing at MATHCOUNTS Competition
The students competed against 15 other Westchester and Putnam schools' teams and placed in the top six.

From Briarcliff Middle School: Representatives from Briarcliff Middle School’s Mathletes put on a strong showing at the annual Westchester/Putnam MATHCOUNTS competition, held at Pace University in Pleasantville on Feb. 4.
“We placed in the top six out of 16 teams from around Westchester and Putnam counties, just 0.75 points shy of the [next highest placing team],” said Mathletes advisor Svetlana Ryzhik.
Two students earned top scores for the school, with 39 out of a possible 46 points.

“The team, under the leadership of captain Ari Mirsky, did well on the team round where they cooperatively solved seven out of 10 problems, compared to just three last year,” said Ryzhik. “All the students enjoyed the experience very much.”
