Briarcliff¹s Destination Imagination Team Heads to Global Finals
The STiCKBuRGers impressed the judges at the state competition and has now started fundraising for globals.

From Syntax NY: The middle school team impressed the judges at its state competition and started fundraising for globals. Briarcliff Middle School’s Destination Imagination team, the STiCKBuRGers, knows how to carry its weight.
“The STiCKBuRGers built a tiny structure out of only balsa wood and glue that held over 700 pounds of weight without breaking,” said team advisor Jodi Shearer. “In fact, at the state competition, there were not enough weights to break the structure.”
The team is on a roll this season, having earned the Renaissance Award for Excellence in Engineering at the regional competition and continued to improve their structure since. The team members are looking forward to tackling the engineering challenge at the global finals competition.

The team is fundraising to help offset the costs of traveling to Knoxville, Tennessee, for the global competition at the end of May by selling Briarcliff infuser water bottles and Yankee candles. In addition, local eatery Mooyah will host a fundraiser for the DI team on Thursday, May 11. Between the hours of 3 and 9 p.m., Mooyah will donate a portion of their sales to the team.
