Con Ed Identifies Trees to be Taken Down in Briarcliff

In addition to the ongoing electrical-related work after Sandy, Con Edison has also been identifying trees in Briarcliff Manor that are "highly vulnerable" to causing power outages in the village during storms, according to Village Manager Philip Zegarelli.

In a December 31 update to the community, Zegarelli wrote, "...Con Ed has also identified a series of trees that are to be taken down in order to protect those highly vulnerable areas that have been routinely hit with power outages after even minor storms."

The affected streets include: "Sleepy Hollow and Hall Roads; Long Hill East and Aspinwall Roads; Cedar Drive West, Hawthorne Place and South State Road," he said.

Later this week, Zegarelli said he expects to be able to report the next areas targeted for equipment repairs and upgrades by Con Edison.

"The work, as previously reported, is oriented to replacing the damaged and/or temporary lines that were hit during Hurricane Sandy," he said.
