Crash Leaves Car Partially Submerged In Aquatic Center Indoor Pool

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in an unlikely car crash in Westchester County, allowing first responders to lighten the mood a little.

"While we do encourage car pooling, this is not what we had in mind," the Ossining Police Department said.

The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department (BMFD) says that on Friday, around 12:20 p.m., they responded to a report they received about a car that had crashed into the pool house at Club Fit, located on North State Road in Briarcliff Manor.

Once on the scene, emergency responders found a car was driven through the emergency exit door of the pool house, coming to a stop around 10 feet into the closest pool section, partially submerged in the water.

Club Fit staff were able to help the driver out of the car, and there were no serious injuries reported for the driver or any Club Fit patrons.

"The Club Fit Briarcliff Aquatics Center will be closed until further notice," Club Fit officials said on social media. "Briarcliff members are welcome to use our Jefferson Valley location. Thank you for your understanding ... We are so incredibly grateful to say that no one was injured as a result of this accident."

Briarcliff Manor FD was assisted at the scene by Ossining EMS and the Ossining Police Department.

Emergency personnel secured the scene while the car was removed from the water. After an inspection by the Ossining Building Department, the structure was ultimately deemed safe.

All units were cleared from the scene by 2:15 p.m.

BMFD thanked all the responding agencies for their "swift and coordinated efforts."
