Flood Watch and Icky Weekend Weather (Updated)

A flood watch will remain in effect from Friday morning through Saturday. Rain and snow are predicted.

Update, 12:07 p.m.: The National Weather Service has extended a high wind warning in the Hudson Valley and surrounding area, which is currently set to expire at 11 p.m. tonight. Winds up to 6o mph may hit the area this afternoon and evening. When traveling, be wary of down trees and power lines; and bring in loose items from outside (such as trash cans and outdoor furniture).

The National Weather Service has declared a flood watch for Westchester, parts of New Jersey and Connecticut from 7 a.m. Friday, until Saturday morning.

The combination of current snow and frozen ground, combined with significant rainfall may flood roadways, underpasses and streams.

NWS advises residents to monitor their local forecasts, and for those living in flood zones—be prepared to react to the flood, and evacuate if necessary.

They also predict heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and fog before noon on Friday in the region, with winds of 30 mph that could reach 48 mph at night.

Saturday will be partly sunny, with wind dying down. Snow may fall after midnight on Sunday, but will turn into rain by noon. Rain is snow is likely on Monday.
