More Storms, More Flash Flooding Possible In The Hudson Valley
A flood watch and hazardous outlook have been issued, as scattered thunderstorms could bring locally heavy downpours through Wednesday.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Slow-moving showers with possible thunderstorms could produce locally heavy downpours Monday and Tuesday, and the Weather Prediction Center has placed most of the region in a slight risk for excessive rainfall.
"Unfortunately, predicting the position of these showers & T-Storms in advance is virtually impossible," Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook. "So anyone with plans will need to keep an eye on the radar, to see if a rain delay is headed your way."
We could again also experience scattered areas of flash flooding.

There is a continued chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms through this afternoon. Locally heavy downpours could result in localized flooding of urban, poor drainage, and low-lying areas or isolated flash flooding.
Another storm system will bring a widespread rainfall and a few thunderstorms later Tuesday night through Wednesday. Locally heavy rainfall is possible and there is a marginal to slight risk for excessive rainfall which would result in some flash flooding.
"With a saturated atmosphere, there remains isolated potential for up to 4" or slightly more of rainfall through this evening from enhanced rainfall caused by heavy downpours from slow moving and training thunderstorms," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook.
While Tuesday will be drier, the risk of heavy rain returns at night and persists through much of Wednesday, he said.
"A strong cold front arrives during this period and could trigger potential for a Trace to 2" of rainfall. A widespread 1" to 2" of rainfall is suggested with potential for heavy downpours providing more enhanced rainfall that could fall during a short period of time," Furbeck said.
Wind gusts are not now expected to be a factor, as they were in the storms Thursday and Friday that left thousands without power and blew a large pine tree onto a school bus filled with children.

There is relief on the way.
"A trough will dive in from Canada on Wednesday, and spread more widespread showers and T-Storms. However, this frontal boundary will push through the region... clearing us out by Thursday," Potter said. "Thursday looks cooler, much less humid, and a good deal of sunshine. Best of all... overnight lows near 50° will allow those windows to open and get some fresh air in the house."
