Crane Failure Causes Injuries At Mt Pleasant Construction Site: UPDATE

One lane is open in each direction on Route 9A, town officials said.

HAWTHORNE, NY — Several people were injured when a crane collapsed at a construction site at 211 Saw Mill River Road, Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi said.

"The Town is aware of injuries and we understand that those injured were transferred to Westchester Medical Center. The cause of the crane failure is being investigated," he said.

In conjunction with Westchester County Police and the State of New York, Route 9A was temporarily closed. Detour routes were established and were administered by all involved agencies. Route 9A is now open — 1 lane in each direction.

The construction site is temporarily shut down pending inspections of the site by the State and local authorities.
